Production: Ancillary Task: Magazine Cover

Production: Ancillary Task - Poster

Production: Production Diary

Wednesday 10th of October

Will, Tom and myself went to my house to film the scenes in the bathroom, kitchen and living room. We first filmed the bathroom scene, Tom and myself got dressed into our costumes for our characters. Will was the cameraman, so he discussed with me where would be the best place to set the camera and what kind of camera shot will be best. Will first filmed me sat down on the toilet, we had a few takes of this to get everything spot on and how we wanted it. We then filmed Tom sat down as the setting for each toilet film is the same. We tried different shots to see which shot worked best.
The kitchen scene was filmed next, then the living room scene with Tom returning from work with bad news.

Friday 12th of October

This is when we filmed the interview and meeting scenes in the conference room in our Secondary School. I filmed the scenes where Will was talking to Tom and Joe. Various camera angles were used in these scenes, two shots, over-the-shoulder shots, mid-shots, and shot-reverse shots were used.

Tuesday 16th of October

In our Media lessons, Will and myself used the laptop to import our clips from the camera, cut them down to suit our interests, put them in the write order for the trailer and edit around them. Later that evening, Will, Tom and myself came back to the school to film the sports office scene. We filmed it after school as a friend was able to let us use the office and it was the easiest time to film but it was not in the way of anyone.

Wednesday 17th of October

In our Media lesson, Will and myself imported the clips from the previous night onto the laptop, cut them down and edited them as we pleased. This was uploaded to our blogs as our first draft for the trailer.

Friday 19th of October

In our Media lesson, we made final improvements and editing to our movie trailer. We searched the web for music that was not protected from copyright, downloaded the ones that took our interest and uploaded them into iMovie for our trailer. We uploaded the Universal clip from another trailer for a production company, we also edited it with screen effects to make it more conventional for a Comedy trailer.

Tuesday 23rd of October

During our Media lessons we finished the trailer as we wanted. We were then told that we need to improve the trailer and make it more conventional, so we uploaded this trailer as our second draft. Will and myself then started to create ideas for a third and final trailer.

Wednesday 24th of October

We wrote the part of the new improved script to make our trailer more conventional. Also we wanted to add more emphasis on the characters connection with each other and their importance within the film. We added a stronger storyline and a female character for the other characters to fight/win over.

Thursday 1st November

This is when Will and myself began filming for the new improved film trailer. We filmed at my house, shooting the opening bedroom scenes and then the lounge scene that follows it. Will filmed when i was laying in the bed and walking to the bathroom, then we swapped and I filmed him in the bed and walking to the bathroom. We used a variety of shots, mid shots, tracking and long shots. In the lounge we did the same, Will filmed my lines and I filmed his. We again used some mid shots and even a two shot of both of us.

Wednesday 7th November

We uploaded the clips we filmed from Thursday and edited them to make into the beginning of our trailer. We discussed how to cut the clips down and I added the effects and on screen text. We then planned what we were going to film the next day.

Thursday 8th November

This is when Will, Megan and myself filmed the 'date' scenes at my house. I filmed their date, using some two shots, close ups and mid shots. Then Will filmed my date with Megan, using some of the same shots from different angles. I then shot Megan and Will's follow up date, using a two shot and shot reverse shot as they're watching the film.

Wednesday 14th November

Will, Megan and myself then went to Will's house to film the final scene of the trailer in which Will's character and my character have a fight outside 'Megan's house'. We filmed Megan inside the house and then Will and myself had our fight scene outside on the drive which was filmed by Megan.

Friday 16th November

In the media lesson, I then uploaded and edited the clips we'd shot on the wednesday and added some uncopyrighted music.

Tuesday 20th November

In our Media lesson, Will and myself did a run through of what I had done on Friday to double check between us, a few minor things were changed like the editing between shots.

Wednesday 21st November

After discussing with my media teacher, we then cut down some of the shots and added in some of the new uncopyrighted music to accompany the trailer. I made some of the clip transitions quicker and faster and more convetional. While Will searched for some music that we both agreed on.

Tuesday 27th November

Will and our media teacher found some better uncopyrighted music for our final scene. While I added more on screen text that helped make the narrative clearer to the audience, I also worked on a new production company logo for our trailer.
